LEO XU PROJECTS is very pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition “Chen Wei: More” on Sunday, June 3rd 2012.
“Chen Wei: More” is the first solo presentation in Shanghai of Beijing-based photographer Chen Wei since 2009. The exhibition features a body of his recent works that heralds the change and new direction in Chen’s photography. Being less cinematic and narrative, the new pieces reveal the painterly aspect of Chen’s work and the artist’s interest in representing the quotidian objects. Also on view will include a fine selection of Chen’s Polaroid shots.
Chen Wei (b. 1980, in Zhejiang Province) received the 1st Asia Pacific Photography Prize at ShContemporary Art Fair in Shanghai in 2011. He is awarded the Best Photography Artist of 2011 by art journal Randian.
Chen has exhibited extensively around the world, including Seoul Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai, Pingyao International Photography Festival, Poznan Biennale, etc.
A monograph book will be published in conjunction with the show.
