The Cornaro Institute, Cyprus
Opportunities for artists to work and study in Cyprus
Deadline: 1 August 2012
No application fee
Founded in 1969 the Cornaro Institute (formerly the Cyprus College of Art) is an international cultural organisation located on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Countless of artists and art students have used our facilities to develop their art, experience a new cultural environment and often to rediscover themselves and their art.
This has included figures such as Rachel Whiteread, Anthony Caro, Terry Frost, Clive Head, Euan Uglow and many others.
We invite applications for our programmes and artists residencies starting in September 2012. These are:
1. Foundation Art and Design for University Entrance (1 year pre-BA study)
2. HND Fine Art (2 years undergraduate study)
3. MA Fine Art (1 year postgraduate study)
4. The Cornaro Fellowship (3 months residency for professional artists).
Our unique qualities include the environment of the Institute, where you will find a dedicated and welcoming team of artists. On our programmes we ensure that students are equipped with the skills they need to succeed as artists, including technical skills such as life drawing, practical colour and form theory and contextual studies.
Students will also find we are primarily a practical place of studio work, so where technical and theoretical studies are included they are always taught as part of the studio programme, not as a separate course. In Cyprus professional artists will find a rich cultural environment, but the Institute also gives time and space to develop work away from the pressures of large cities. All programmes are taught in English.
