INTENSIVE STUDIO IN DRAWING AND PAINTING

The Intensive Summer Studio in Drawing and Painting is structured in 3 sequential parts and accepts international and national students with previous training aiming to explore and render more substantial the orientation of their work. Two or three tutors will be present at every session (depending on need) and provide individual commentary according to each participant’s personal pace and the degree of development of his/her work. Sessions will be conducted in both English and Portuguese.
Selected works may integrate the “Fall Exhibition/Open Studio” of Ar.Co, in September 2012.

Hours:
I - July 23 to August 11 (Monday thru Friday: studio hours 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. / tutorials: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
II - August 13 to August 31 (Monday thru Friday: studio hours 10 a.m. – 8 p.m./ tutorials: Fridays 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
III – September 3 to September 7 (Monday thru Friday: studio hours 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. / tutorials: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
Number of participants:
Minimum 10; Maximum 16.
Tutors:
Manuel Castro Caldas (Executive Director of Ar.Co; teaches and coordinates the Advanced Course in Fine Arts).
Marcelo Costa (Practicing artist; Head of the Cinema/Movement Image Department) Manuel Caldeira (Practicing artist; teaches Painting/Drawing Level 3 at Ar.Co).

Tuition + registration fee + school insurance:
445€ + 45€ (enrolment) + 2,5 € (insurance).
Important/Useful information:
- The Summer Studio will take place in the generous studio spaces of Ar.Co’s installations at the Quinta de S. Miguel in Almada, a refurbished 19th-century farm complex and a ten minute drive from Lisbon and the ocean beaches of Caparica.
- The school’s Library on the premises includes computers with internet access and wi-fi.
- Participants have access to a common area with a fridge, microwaves, coffee machine, etc.
- Transportation (20 min from Lisbon):
By boat: Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas. In Cacilhas take the surface metro to Universidade and get off at Pragal Station. Walk 100m upwards to to Quinta de S. Miguel.
By train: From Entrecampos, Sete Rios or Campolide Stations direction Sétubal or Cóina (aprox. every 15min). Get off at Estação do Pragal. Walk 100m upwards to to Quinta de S. Miguel.
