neo:studios is pleased to announce the launch of the neo:artprize2013. Having achieved critical acclaim in its inaugural year, the competition offers a prestigious showcase for contemporary visual artists as well as substantial prize money for the winner.
The competition is juried by an independent panel of prominent curators and artists ensuring high standards are maintained.
Judges for the neo:artprize2013 are:
Laurie Peake : Programme Director for the Liverpool Biennial, Laurie was part of the team that developed an innovative education and public programme at the Tate Gallery Liverpool. She also managed a similar programme at Camden Arts Centre London and has worked collaboratively on commissions in public spaces including Jaume Plensa’s ‘Dream’, Richard Wilson’s ‘Turning the Place Over’ and Anthony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’.
Paul Stolper : Director of leading contemporary galleries Paul Stolper Gallery, London and Stolper + Friends in Oslo, Paul has worked directly with contemporary artists for over a decade. Starting with his first permanent space, Gallery A22, followed by the pop-up Cab Gallery he continues to collaborate with artists such as Damien Hirst, Gary Hume, Sarah Lucas and Gavin Turk as well as supporting emerging British and International artists.
Mike Chavez-Dawson: Artist and curator based at Rogue Artists' Studios & Project Space Manchester, Mike curated and instigated the critically acclaimed ‘Unrealised Potential’ show and more recently the David Shrigley solo show entitled ‘How are you Feeling’ for Cornerhouse..
Iain Andrews : Artist painter who has exhibited nationally and internationally since his graduation in 2000. Iain has won the Marmite Prize for Painting, been shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize and was regional award winner in the National Art Open.
neo:artprize is an open exhibition inviting work in any media from contemporary visual artists of all ages and nationalities. The exhibition runs 13th June - 28th July at neo:gallery Bolton, Greater Manchester UK.
