NARS Foundation International Short-Term Studio Program
Applications accepted on a rolling basis
Application fee: $35
The International Short-Term Studio Program is available to international artists who wish to maintain a studio practice in New York City for periods of less than one year. The program is designed to assist international artists who have a hard time securing short-term studio spaces due to the lack of credit history in the U.S. or the inability to sign a one or two year commercial lease for studios. The program provides international artists with the opportunity to work within an active and supportive artist community to create and develop their work while experiencing all that New York City has to offer.
The studios are accessible 24/7 and each studio is furnished with a worktable and chair. Wireless internet, heat, and utilities are included in the rental fee. A freight elevator is available during weekdays.
Applicants are asked to submit at least two preferred dates for consideration, as certain months are more in demand than others. Notification of space availability will be made within 30 days of submission. An application is considered valid for one year. If the applicant’s requested dates are not available, the applicant can request new dates for consideration throughout the one year period.
The rental program only provides studio spaces and does not include any administrative support or professional development services. Free resources that are provided to incoming international artist are as follows:
Transportation Information including MTA Map/Bike Map
List of Art Supply Stores
List of online resources for art and cultural events
List of cultural organization of interest
List of nearby restaurant & cafe
Artists who wish to receive other support services can request specific services for an additional fee or may want to consider applying to the International Artist Residency program for professional development services.
