Breathe Artist-in-Residence Programme, Chongqing
Deadline: 31 August 2009
In collaboration with Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester, UK - 501 Artspace will open their residency programme to all artists.
Artists can select their duration of stay between 1 – 2 months.
The Breathe residency is an opportunity to provide an artist the time and space to contemplate their practise. It is not necessary that the artist makes finished work during this period and we will not pressure the artist to do this. The time could be used for research and development of ideas, and the form the residency takes is entirely up to the artist to choose. We do however expect the artist to make productive use of their time whilst at 501 Artspace and pro-actively engage with their environment. Opportunities to network, both inside and outside 501 Artspace, will be provided and through these the artist can promote themselves and their residency. The Open studio at the close of the residency will be an opportunity for the artist to engage with the public and discuss their residency. The format of the Open Studio can take the form of a professionally hung exhibition, an artist’s talk or simply a presentation of works in progress. This would be of the artist’s choosing and would reflect their experiences during the residency.
The 501 Artspace will provide the following: -
Studio approx 36m2
Internet Access
Apartment with kitchen & Shower within a short walk

The Following expenses are to be covered by the Artist: -
