The Museum of Everything: Exhibition #2 at Tate Modern

No Soul For Sale 2010 at Tate Modern, 14th/15th/16th May, 2010

Calling all the untrained, unintentional and unseen artists of our Great Britain.

Are you a marginal or self-taught artist? Have you received a divine calling to depict new worlds? Or are you an artist with a disability, whose creativity has been undeservedly overlooked? An amateur painter with something extra? Even a collector who has chanced upon an oeuvre of indecipherable doodlings?

If this sounds like you, The Museum of Everything cordially invites you to submit an artwork to Exhibition #2, to be held at head at the greatest museum in the land: London's Tate Modern.

Exhibition #2 will take place on May 14th, 15th and 16th 2010. To enter, simply arrive at the Tate Modern during the show with an unframed work on paper. The artwork will be assessed by our esteemed Board of Trustees and if successful, will be displayed inside the Turbine Hall in the Tate Modern itself.

We humbly urge you not to miss this gilded opportunity. The Museum of Everything is Britain's only space dedicated to art by the untrained, unintentional and unseen artists of today.

We shall be presenting over 1000 artworks during the course of the 3-day exhibition. These works will be published and invited to enter The Museum of Everything's permanent collection.

The Museum of EVERYTHING
TIME-CRITICAL

In October 2009, The Museum of Everything opened in London to coincide with the Frieze Art Fair.

Exhibition #1 featured 500 works by non-traditional artists, including mediumistic and visionary artists, folk artists and artisans, naive and brut artists, and artists with a physical or developmental disability.

These artworks were curated by 100 contemporary artists and creative figures, including Ed Ruscha, Annette Messager, David Byrne, Grayson Perry, John Baldessari, Jarvis Cocker, Peter Blake and Pete Townshend.

The exhibition was a significant critical and public success, with over 35,000 visitors in 4 months. It was reviewed internationally online and in print and was voted Best of 2009 by Art Forum, Time Out and others.

2010 Exhibition #1

In April 2010, Exhibition #1 travelled to the Pinoteca Agnelli in Turin, Italy. The exhibition featured over 800 works in an expanded version of the British show, with additional texts written by Italian artists.

The exhibition received widespread critical and public support. A book of the exhibition [Everything #1] was published by Electa/Mondadori and features 800 images plus commentaries by Hans Ulrich Obrist and others.

INFORMATION
EMBASSY would like to extend an invitation to all interested groups and individuals to submit proposals for consideration in this year’s Annuale, Edinburgh’s festival of grassroots artist led activity and non-institutional practice.  We are looking for proposals from Artists/ Curators/ Groups, encompassing all forms of projects from exhibitions to screenings, talks to performances and anything else you might care to submit.  The event is scheduled to open on the 18th of June, echoing last year’s decision to separate the Annuale from the larger International Festival programme in August, a move that provides a more visible platform for those involved.

The Annuale will run from the 19th of June and will run until the 4th of July, with events staggered throughout this period. In order to make this possible, we ask for a level of flexibility in the timing of your proposed projects.

Through inclusion in our Annuale programme we offer the chance to be part of an ever-growing art festival, which has this year expanded to include projects from across Europe. We promote all events through a printed guide and features on our dedicated website and extended networks.

Unfortunately the Embassy are unable to offer space or budget for individual projects, however we will try our best to support any successful applications

Workspace Program Residency, Dieu Donné, NYC

Residency for New York State emerging artists

Established in 1990, the Workspace Program provides annual residencies to New York State emerging artists to create new work in handmade paper. The program seeks to encourage emerging artists to explore the creative possibilities of handmade paper, develop this art form, and promote the Workspace artists through exhibitions of their work produced at Dieu Donné.

Resident artists will be selected by panel and interview process to participate in the Workspace Program. Dieu Donné staff consults and collaborates with each artist in order to strategize an approach to realizing their work through handmade paper.

Applicants will be asked to submit ten JPGs suitable for projection, a CV or resume, and a short essay on how a residency at Dieu Donné might further their artistic practice. While we do not ask for a project proposal with the application, upon selection and following an orientation, Workspace Program artists will be asked to prepare a proposal before beginning their work in the studio.

The deadline for all applications is May 28, 2010.

Ptarmigan project space (Helsinki, Finland) is excited to announce a new residency programme for artists and cultural workers from the Baltic and Nordic regions (excluding Finland). We are seeking proposals from individuals and collectives who work to expand traditional structures of art and cultural production in creative and innovative ways.

Residencies will last for approximately two months each, taking place from July - December 2010. Our residency programme focuses on dialogue and exchange between visiting artists and the Helsinki-based audience. Preference will be given to proposals that respond to location, community and the environment. We encourage applicants to propose projects that include artist talks, workshops or other community based activity.

The residency offers: 
   * A studio/working space - this may also function as a gallery space for exhibition of work, a seminar room, meeting place, or workshop space. High speed   internet.
   * Full kitchen facilities
   * Accommodation in a nearby apartment (within walking distance from the studio)
   * A stipend to cover subsistence costs
   * A materials budget
   * Travel costs to and from Helsinki

Applications are open to artists who reside in the Nordic and Baltic countries outside of Finland. This covers Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and the autonomous areas of the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland.

Deadline is the 15th of May and decisions will be advised in early June.

The Jerwood Drawing Prize, UK

Jerwood Visual Arts is delighted to announce that registration for artists entering the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2010 is now open online: www.jerwoodvisualarts.org

The Jerwood Drawing Prize is the largest and longest running annual open exhibition for drawing in the UK. Judged by an independent panel of selectors the Prize aims to recognise and support both established and emerging artists in the field of drawing, and is open to artists resident or domiciled within the UK.

Awards include a first prize of £6,000, a second prize of £3,000 and two student awards of £1,000 each. The award winners will be announced at the private view on the evening of 28 September 2010 at Jerwood Space, London.

The selectors look to create an exhibition that represents and celebrates the diversity, excellence and range of current drawing practice in the UK. From an anticipated submission of well over 2,000 entries, the selectors will bring together 40-50 drawings for the 2010 exhibition at Jerwood Space, London from 29 September – 7 November. The exhibition will then tour nationally.

Deadline for registration is 5pm on 21 June 2010. Once registered, artists are invited to submit their works through one of the regional collection centres, which include Cardiff, Cheltenham, Cornwall, Edinburgh and Newcastle, ending in London on 2 and 3 July 2010.

German Federal Cultural Foundation and Haus der Kulturen der Welt - Call For Future

Über Lebenskunst: the Call For Future

Urban beekeepers, carrot mobs or Wiki woods: The two-year program Über Lebenskunst is underway with the Call For Future which marks the start of the joint project of the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. This project aims to find groundbreaking initiatives for new models of ecologically sustainable living both in and for Berlin with partners from around the world.

Anyone who submits their application form by May 24, 2010 has the chance at both conceptual and financial project support. Up to 20,000 euros will be awarded to projects that convincingly bring together culture and sustainability and defy odds to put new ecological models for thought and action to the test for the 21st century.

Curator Paula Marie Hildebrandt: "We don't want to capitulate in the face of environmental catastrophe nor do we want to preach that everyone needs to learn to downscale. What we need is a fundamental cultural shift at all levels of society."

The Call For Future is a key element in this project that aims to create new spaces for researching and testing out forward-looking activities. Its jury is made up of figures from the realms of art and culture, politics and media, civil society, science and business. The following have already confirmed their participation: Ole von Uexküll, Executive Director of the Right Livelihood Foundation (alternate Nobel Prize) from Stockholm, the London-based urban and creativity researcher, Charles Landry, and Daniel Boese from the Berlin city magazine, zitty.

The Über Lebenskunst initiatives chosen will invite visitors to experience and try out new spaces for thought and action in the summer of 2011. This will take place as part of the Über Lebenskunst theme festival in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and in various locations in Berlin.

Starting September 2010, a group of artists and creative individuals will receive training in cooperation with the Future Institute (Institut FUTUR) of Berlin's Free University in a newly developed program to practice a future art of sustainable living with children and young people in schools. The question is also asked here: how can a productive exchange of ideas be initiated between the realms of art, science, civil society and education, an exchange that brings new ideas for environmentally sustainable living and incorporates them into social practice?

An initiative project of the Federal Cultural Foundation in cooperation with the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.

With I Am Solitary I Am An Army, Beers Lambert will curate an exhibition in collaboration with Surface Gallery in Nottingham, UK, that presents the work of emerging artists whose work explores the current paths and ideas in progressive contemporary art.

Open Call 2010 is open to all international artists working in 2D and 3D, (including video and installation) whose work speaks to concepts of identity, progress, temporality, and self, and any interpretation of these themes, and/or operates upon this conceptual basis through an exciting approach to medium/material, presentation, and figurative or abstract art of all media.

Seeking Contemporary Visual Artist for Sky Arts Project, London

Project involving renowned photographer Rankin

I'm casting a campaign for Sky Arts, designed to promote awareness of the arts, which will feature talented individuals from a range of arts disciplines (see below). The campaign will take the form of a series of portraits, to be shot by renowned photographer Rankin. The photographs themselves will be works of art, intended for outdoor exhibition, with each image exploring the foundations of art, and exposing the beauty of everyday things. For the duration of the campaign, Sky Arts are taking over every billboard on Tottenham Court Road. This has the potential to be fantastic opportunity for anyone pursuing a career in the arts to promote themselves and their work.  There is a strong possibility that the Sky Arts website will feature biogs of all the chosen artists, possibly with links to the artists' own websites.  In addition, Rankin is keen to offer the artists an image from the shoot for their own personal use afterwards also. This would be for PR for 1 year and they would release one month after the launch of the project. 

We are looking for a broad age-range - 20's upwards.

Anyone who is interested should email me a photo as soon as possible.  Those shortlisted will need to come for an audition at the end of this week/beginning of next week.
