Internship Programme at Book Works
Book Works is an independent contemporary visual arts publisher established in 1984, and based in Shoreditch, London. Book Works is a non-profit organisation and registered charity, and we receive funding from Arts Council England. We publish artists’ books and through our studio workshop produce books and artists’ editions with many leading contemporary artists.
Recent publications in 2009/10 include commissions with Slavs & Tatars, Karl Holmqvist, Liam Gillick, Susan Hiller, Tacita Dean, Jana Leo, Graham Parker and Mark Waugh as well as our bi-annual journal The Happy Hypocrite. We publish 6-8 titles per year, comm ssioning both emerging and more established artists and writers to produce artists’ books with us.
You can find out more about us at www.bookworks.org.uk
Interns at Book Works will play an active role in our publishing programme and related events, talks and book launches. With a focus on students and recent graduates our internship programme aims to provide an opportunity for participants to find out more about contemporary arts and publishing and what their role in it might be.
We are ideally looking for those people who have completed their first degree, are engaged in post-graduate studies or just out of college who would benefit from working with a small team, learning more about all aspects of publishing, marketing and distribution. You should be interested in the visual arts and contemporary arts publishing, and have good organisational and computer skills. Literacy, accuracy and good humour are essential. There will be an opportunity to discuss your own professional development/career with staff at Book Works and to have some input into production and promotional meetings.
Internship Programme for 2010
