My World: Visions of 21st Century Feminism

In the framework of its 20th anniversary celebrations, the European Women’s Lobby is pleased to announce the launch of a photo competition looking to expose the visions of young women of the world they live in.
The competition seeks images that make a creative and powerful statement on the theme of ‘21st Century Feminism’.
Criteria & Rules of entry
To submit an entry into this Competition, you must be:
-Female (defined as all those who identify themselves as such)
-Aged between 15 and 40 (more information on this criteria here)
-Resident in an EU Member State (see list here) or Candidate country (Croatia, FYROM, Turkey).
All valid applications will be judged by a panel of judges on the basis of the following criteria:
-creativity
-originality
-composition
-technical ability
-interpretation of the brief
-gender sensitivity
-ability to raise awareness on women’s rights in Europe
1.The subject for the EWL Photography Competition and Exhibition 2010 is ‘My world: Visions of 21st Century Feminism’. The theme is open to individual interpretation but clear description of the photograph must be included with each entry.
2.Images may be digitally enhanced and manipulated. They may contain text.
3.To enter the Competition, you must e-mail your name, country of residence, chosen image (in attachment) and brief description of the image (maximum 1000 characters) in any of the official EU languages (see list here) to [email protected]. In the subject box, please paste: ‘ENTRY TO EWL PHOTO COMPETITION’.

5.Maximum 3 entries are permitted per person.
6.The closing date and time of the Competition is 11.59pm on Wednesday 30 June 2010. Entries received after that date and time will not be considered.
7.You own the copyright to your Competition entry as its author.
8.By submitting an entry to the Competition, You give the European Women’s Lobby (EWL):
a.Permission for your entry to be published on websites associated with the EWL and grant EWL a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to republish your Competition entry in electronic format and hard copy for purposes connected with the Competition; and
b.The right to use your name and country of residence for the sole purpose of identifying you as the author of your entry and/or as a winner of the Competition.
9.Your entry must be your own work, must not be copied, must not contain any third-party materials and/or content that you do not have permission to use and must not otherwise be obscene, defamatory or in breach of any applicable legislation or regulations.
10. You must ensure that any person or persons whose image is used in an entry has given valid consent for the use of their image or has waived any rights they may have in the image submitted. Where such person is under 16, the consent of that person's parent or guardian must be obtained.
11. A shortlist of 40 entries will be published on www.womenlobby.org on or before 31 August 2010. The shortlisted candidates will be notified by e-mail, and requested to send a high-definition copy of their image on a CD to the EWL Secretariat in Brussels within 15 days. Those whose submissions are unsuccessful will not receive any notification.
12. A panel of judges will select 20 final entries to be displayed in a high-profile exhibition to be held opened on 15 October 2010 in Brussels.
13. The exhibition of winning entries may be displayed in various locations across Europe in 2010-2011.
14. The 20 finalist entries will be published in a full-colour brochure which will be widely disseminated among European, national and international policy-makers and EWL partners. This publication will also be available in digital format and published on EWL and partner websites.
15. Further prizes are expected, but dependent on sponsorship from sources external to the EWL.
