ABOUT
ARTPORT_making waves is an international art project and curators collective that raises awareness of current social and political issues worldwide through theme-oriented exhibitions, residency programs, and artists collaborations.
ARTPORT_making waves aims at creating sustainable networks of artists, curators, galleries, art collectors, and critics to promote a true globalization of the artistic discourse, giving a voice to promising artists from all over the world. At the same time, ARTPORT_making waves encourages the cross-fertilization of art, science, and politics. The collaborative programs will bring forward new and exciting ways to inspire positive changes across borders.
The first project series of ARTPORT_making waves explores artists’ responses to Climate Change, its causes, effects, and solutions. How do artists reflect on the drastic ecological shifts that cause an increasing number and destructive power of natural disasters like hurricanes, landslides, droughts, and floods? How can artists make a difference? How can they create awareness among the general public, and influence the political will to introduce changes in policies and education? What are the different approaches worldwide and how can we create synergies?
ARTPORT_making waves was founded in 2006 by two international curators, Corinne Erni and Anne-Marie Melster. In 2009, curator and art historian Oliver Orest Tschirky joined the team. ARTPORT_making waves is based in Valencia, Spain, New York City, and Zurich, Switzerland.
Wow, I'm blown away by this amazing and touching artwork. This really proves that art can be relevant to important current events and I really believe that there is a piece for everyone to connect to on some level.
