DIY Cultures is a day-long festival of zines, artist books, comics, talks, films, animation, video art, exhibitions, workshops - the spirit of independence, autonomy & alternatives.

WHO: Artists, illlustrators, crafters, makers.
WHAT: We're inviting submissions for an exhibition on artists' book that will take place as part of DIY Cultures 2014. Entries can be related to any theme, but we are particularly interested in seeing artists' books related to women's use of technology in the arts.
DETAILS: Before applying for this opportunity please bear in mind that if selected we will not be able to return your artist book unless you provide us with a prepaid self-addressed envelope.
APPLY: Send photos of your artists' books (upto 10 photos per book) to [email protected] ASAP. Optionally include a 150 word artist statement to accompany it. If selected we will contact you and ask you to send us a copy of your book. Don't send anything by post at this stage.

WHO: Artists, zine makers, illustrators, film makers, video artists, gif artists, graphic designers, poets, writers.
WHAT: We’d like you to respond and complete the sentence "DIY because..." in a poster, animation, video or animated gif. Posters can be drawings, graphics or art, as well as prose text, poetry or typography. We’d also like animation and video artwork related to women's use of technology in the arts.
DETAILS: Posters can be drawings, graphics or art, prose text, poetry or typography. Posters should be A4 size and 300dpi ready for printing. Videos and animations should be sent as links to Youtube or Vimeo. Gifs should be landscape and high enough resolution to be shown on a widescreen monitor.
