Borough Road Gallery Artist Residency 2014/15
A three-month residency for a UK-based visual artist to engage with A David Bomberg Legacy – The Sarah Rose Collection at a studio within Borough Road Gallery, from 1 December 2014 - 28 February 2015, followed by a related public exhibition, in 2015. Includes: a bursary of £3000 (incl VAT); the use of half of the Gallery as a studio space*; access to the collection of over 150 paintings, drawings, and prints by David Bomberg and the Borough Group; access to London South Bank University (LSBU) facilities such as office equipment, Perry Library, the LSBU Archive, bookable spaces e.g. audio and digital editing suites, lecture rooms, rehearsal spaces, carpentry workshops, the Digital Gallery; up to £800 towards production costs for new work; mentoring and support from Borough Road Gallery’s Curator; up to £200 towards travel (accommodation not included). Selection panel: curator Jeni Walwin (independent curator/Chair of the Board, The Drawing Room), artist Jo Joelson (London Fieldworks), at least one member of the Borough Road Gallery Exhibitions Advisory Group, and the Borough Road Gallery Curator, Rachel Fleming-Mulford.
Artists will be judged on the potential of their practice to respond to the collection and/or its context, the quality of their work, and the extent to which the residency will benefit them at this point in their career.
