PALIMPSEST PROJECT
http://www.proyectoace.org/en_palimsest-4b
The Palimpsest Project is an International Project/worlk in progress that we started developing along 2014 based in the mural that the Colombian artist Felipe Garcia painted in our terrace during his residency in 2013.
Within this project, Fundación 'ace para el Arte Contemporáneo invites artists to apply for Palimpsest [4], the fourth session of a collaborative project which will take place in 'ace's terrace.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Noun ‘pa-ləm(p)-sest, pə-lim(p)-‘: a very old document on which the original writing has been erased and replaced with new writing, something that has changed over time and shows evidence of that change.
Following the previous concept this project intends to invite different artists to paint murals that make a "dialogue" with the previous ones. Palimpsest is an ongoing project in constant mutation in which artists are encouraged to overlap, erase, cover, achieving a new rise of what was already in the wall. This action is considered both a way to embrace and demystify the work of the other.
Structured within the Exploration Residencies, Palimpsest also encourages artists to get inspiration from the new experiences achieved through the interaction with other resident artists and the cultural environment that the city of Buenos Aires provides.
AIMED TO:
Career as well as emerging visual artists with a special interest in mural painting and street art.
- Groups of up to 2 artists are encouraged to apply together working in collaboration.
