The Award
Each Residency Award consists of:
- 2 free studios at Bon Volks, Margate
- Free accommodation
- Opportunity to exhibit, perform or create public events in the Bon Volks Project Space
Duration of each Residency
Between 4 and 8 weeks, dependant on needs of applicant
Who we are looking for
We welcome applicants who can display a keen dedication to their practice and clarity of proposal.
We welcome applications from individuals who would like to propose a specific project for the duration of the residency or those who would like to use the time to develop existing work for an exhibition or event.
We encourage practitioners of all types to apply. To date, our Residency Studios have been used by a variety of practitioners - as a writing space, planning space or making space.

Bon Volks is an organisation focused on giving its members a share in the direction of the studios, so we welcome people who would enjoy working in an open, collaborative atmosphere.
The Project Space is offered free to each successful residency, but it is not critical that it be used as a part of the application.
All we require from each applicant is that they give one public talk or event at some point in the duration of their residency.

Applications should not exceed 10MB in size
Fee
Each application requires a fee of £15.00.
As a non-profit organisation, this fee contributes to the administration and running of the residency programme, in concurrence with our fundraising and funding support.

Limitations
Due to the size of the residency studios, we feel that those who work on a large scale or with industrial materials, would not be suitable for the residency.
Similarly, the residency studios are on the first floor, without lift access.
Who we are
Housed in a former printing press, Bon Volks CIC is a non-profit Arts Organisation in Margate, UK. We are committed to providing good quality work-spaces to creative practitioners, at affordable prices. We believe that the way in which a studios is built and maintained reflects and promotes the ethos of the institution.
We currently house 23 members, who work in a variety of disciplines.
As well as studios and desk-spaces, Bon Volks also houses a Project Space, Photography Darkroom, Sound Studio and a Makers Workshop.
Bon Volks operates as a 'collaborative space' where members are encouraged to have a collective responsibility for the studios and organisation.
Since 2016, Bon Volks has offered free studios and accommodation to visiting artists, to help realise their projects.
