Full details of your Opportunity
Derry City & Strabane District Council is working in partnership with Fermanagh & Omagh and Mid Ulster District Councils to progress ‘The Sperrins Sculpture Trail’. It is envisaged that the project (consisting of artworks installed at 3 preselected locations) will be developed under the Dept. of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs’ (DAERA) Rural Tourism Scheme. The scheme’s aim is to support investment in natural and built heritage projects that can act as a driver for rural tourism and out of state visitors. Based on the scheme’s objectives the completed project should be iconic: be an attractor of out of state visitors; create capital infrastructure; and create jobs. Upon completion of this competition and selection of the artist led team, the partner Councils will apply to DAERA for up to £1.5M to support the commissioning of the artworks. The partner Councils have already committed a further £0.5M therefore the total estimated budget will be £2M.
Selection Process: The project will be delivered by an artist led team selected through a competitive 2 stage process. Stage 1 involves a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) providing an opportunity to applicants to provide evidence of previous work experience that demonstrates their expertise in delivering projects of this nature. The PQQ submissions will be assessed and up to 6 artists will be invited to submit a detailed tender proposal at stage 2. Each of these short listed artists shall receive £5,000 upon a satisfactory submission of the Stage 2 tender documentation. The completion of the Stage 2 process shall determine the preferred artist led team for the project (subject to funding approval). Download briefing document at www.derrystrabane.com/sperrins
