SomoS Virtual Artist Residency is a 3-month online seminar that seeks to further the participating artist’s work progress, providing input, support, constructive critique, and online visibility, while creating a stimulating community. The online residency is a dedicated productive joint process that will help the artist to focus on their strengths.
The program includes 12 live portfolio critique sessions with distinguished art professionals, focused on work discussion and exchange; 6 individual curatorial support meetings with SomoS founder and curator Paulus Fugers discussing the artist’s project and its dissemination; and 3 individual one-on-one studio visits by experienced art professionals (artists, critics, gallerists, writers, curators) by video call.
The program is accompanied by social media campaigns about each individual artist’s work during the three months, an artist profile page and a video and/or written interview published on SomoS’ website and social media channels.
The moderators and atelier visitors include such acclaimed artists as Ari Versluis, Jean-Ulrick Désert, and curator Lena Reisner.
The SomoS Virtual Artist Residency aims to provide its participating artists with the same level of support, visibility, constructive critique, collegial input, professional focus, cultural exchange and networking opportunities as a physical residency at SomoS would, all within the framework of an intimate, friendly, and respectful cosmopolitan community.
The Virtual Artist Residency has a duration of minimally 3 months, beginning on a rolling basis at the start of the month. It takes place in English and requires a good internet connection. Each meeting requires from 60 to 90 minutes.
