Hotam Press Gallery is calling for artists to submit artworks for our upcoming exhibition — The News Room. We are looking for works by artists that are made in the form of a newspaper. All submitted artworks will be included in the exhibition.

The News Room is now scheduled to open on January 29, 2022. Please note that after the exhibition, all the submitted works will be donated to our gallery’s library for public reference use. As an appreciation of the submission, each participant will receive a printed piece by Hotam Press.

Call for entry for in-person exhibition: all media considered

Natural Habitats

Application fee: $30 for three entries

For this in-person exhibition Cabrillo Gallery welcomes all interpretations of the theme “Natural Habitats,” which could be as fragile as the cradle of a bird’s nest, or as varied as the spaces where humans make their homes.

All living things have natural habitats that suit their unique needs, from the transient stops along a bird’s migratory route to a parched desert where certain plants actually thrive. Human activity has damaged many such habitats, destroying the organisms that depended on them.

Humans create artificial habitats that to us can feel “natural.” Some are lucky enough to find a place to flourish, while others struggle without adequate resources or refuge. Humans also have the ability to imagine less concrete spaces—mental, emotional, spiritual—where they feel at home within themselves.

Eligibility: United States artists

Three cash awards will be presented: $350, $250, $150
