I'm organising an auction for Elephant Haven to raise money to build an elephant sanctuary in Europe.

There isn't an elephant existing in the zoos and circuses of Europe that has not been tortured and abused in some way.

The auction is set to take place at Rosebery's Auction house, London at the beginning of June.

Designers Vivienne Westwood, Stephen Jones and model Kate Moss have also contributed.

I am getting everything ready to go online with Rosebery's next week, but more can be added until the auction date on the 9th of June.

We will have our own pr and also Rosebery's. All galleries and artists will be credited.

These new annual International Awards for Art Criticism are open to candidates from anywhere in the world, writing in Chinese or English about any contemporary art exhibition held between 1 January and 30 September 2014.

The First Prize consists of a cash award of 50,000 RMB (6,000 Euros) and a fully funded two-week residency in Shanghai or London, in spring 2015. The two Second Prizes – one each, for an essay in Chinese and in English – will consist of a fully funded travel bursary for a two-week residency in Shanghai or London around the same time.

The Awards aim to support independent critical coverage of contemporary art, away from the immediate pressures of the market, media and private patronage. They seek to stimulate good writing, critical thinking, dialogue and research in China, the UK and wider afield. There is no age limit, and the Awards are open to all. The objectivity of the selection process is underpinned, both by the recognised professionalism of the Chinese and English-speaking jury members and by the strict anonymity of the judging process.

The Awards will be hosted by an International Board, adjudicated by an international jury and organised by the Shanghai 21st Century Minsheng Art Museum (opening in November 2014). The Awards will be held in partnership with the Royal College of Art, London, the world most influential postgraduate institution of art and design, and in association with the UK Section of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA). The principal sponsors are the Minsheng Banking Corporation Ltd.



How to apply

Submissions should be no longer than 2,000 words or 1,500 Chinese characters in length and may be accompanied by a maximum of three images, that are cleared for publication, Entries must be submitted as a single PDF file no greater than 4MB - i.e an 'optimised' pdf. The entire email should not be more than 5MB. Copyright of all texts must be assigned to the IAAC, regardless of whether or not they have been previously published. All entries will initially be sorted and shortlisted by the organisers and academic partners in China and the UK, then translated into Chinese (for English-language submissions) or English (for Chinese-language submissions).

The final adjudication will be in English, at a meeting of the combined panel of Chinese and English-speaking experts on 22 November 2014 in Shanghai, and announced to the media immediately afterwards. Up to 30 entries from the final shortlist, including the award-winning entries, will be published in the original languages and in translation, both in hard copy and online. Award Winners will be invited to take part in a public presentation, discussion and evaluation of the event in Shanghai, in spring 2015, when the terms of the 2015 Awards will also be announced.

A portrait is a visual representation that portrays the likeness of a person, animal, place or thing.

JUROR | AMY ARBUS Photographer Amy Arbus has published five books, including the award winning On the Street 1980-1990 and The Inconvenience of Being Born. The New Yorker called The Fourth Wallher masterpiece.    Her most    recent, After    Images,    is    homage    to modernism's most    iconic    avant-garde    paintings. Her    advertising clients include Chiat/Day, Foote, Cone and Belding, American Express, Saatchi & Saatchi, SpotCo, New Line Cinema and Nickelodeon. Her photographs have appeared in over one hundred periodicals around the world, including New York Magazine, People, Apertureand The New York Times Magazine. She teaches portraiture    at    the    International    Center    of    Photography, NORDphotography, Anderson Ranch and The Fine Arts Work Center. Amy Arbus is represented by The Schoolhouse Gallery in Massachusetts. She has had twenty-five solo exhibitions worldwide, and her photographs are a part of the collection of The National Theater in Norway, The New York Public Library and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Beam Camp, the summer camp for the fine and manual arts, technology and collaboration, today opens its annual international search to find its 2014 Beam Projects. The large-scale collaborative projects are realized by Beam campers, aged 7-17, and staff at the camp’s 106-acre facility in Strafford, New Hampshire.

Projects are budgeted at $10,000. Winning designers receive a $2,500 honorarium and are invited to visit camp during the project’s production.

Proposals can be submitted on the Beam Camp website until Sunday, January 12, 2014 with Semi-finalists announced on January 20, 2014.

Beam offers these prompts for proposals:
Project should be big and ambitious and result in a unique and spectacular product.
Project Master should have experience in executing the kind of idea proposed.
Projects should take advantage of Beam’s outdoor space and rural location, but need not be about camp, children or nature.

Beam Camp Co-Director Danny Kahn says of the Project, “it’s a chance for kids to walk around inside the mind of a designer of big things and systems. The kids get to learn project-specific making skills and practice the tools of collaboration, and more importantly see how to bring to life a passionately held and expertly developed idea.”

The 2013 Beam Projects reflected Beam’s core emphasis on cultivating creative thinking and applied collaborative work. “Swingtones,” Beam Project 2013.1, is an interactive audible and visual installation of swings and chimes designed by landscape architects Supermass Studio and Sage and Coombe Architects. In “Cut, Paste, Build,” Beam Project 2013.2, The Robots, a sculpture collective from London, worked with Beam campers and staff to physically render computer images of everyday objects as enormous structures in the forest.

Beam Camp offers two 4 week summer sessions for kids aged 7-17 in Strafford, New Hampshire. Campers cultivate hands-on skills while exploring innovative thinking, design and the creative process.

On behalf of GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), we would like to invite you to submit artwork for our signature art event— OUTAuction presented by Bud Light, Lexus, Rokk Vodka (on Sunday, November 21, 2010). For the ninth year, we will be bringing together some of the top talent in the art world to celebrate both established and emerging artists. Part glamorous cocktail party, part art auction, OUTAuction recognizes GLAAD’s Top 100 Artists. Post-Card Auction hosted at ICA - London and presented by 2009 MA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design.

On 16th June we are having an auction of postcards and postcard-sized artworks created by international artists and designers. This event will be called 'Going Postal' and any monies raised by this auction will go towards funding our final MA show in September 2010.  We would be delighted if you would be willing to contribute a piece to this auction. GLAAD OUTAuction 2009 is seeking artists, both emerging and established, to submit their work for this annual exhibition and benefit art auction, taking place November 15th, 2009, at Metropolitan Pavilion, NYC.

1) The spatial aspects of “in” and “out”: inside and outside, internal and external.
